My Loom and History
I inherited my loom from my husband's grandmother. It is a
4-shaft Studio jack loom made by the Newcomb Loom Company in Davenport, Iowa.
It was purchased in 1943 by a lady living in Fayette in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.
Weaving has become a passion for me, as I really enjoy the feeling of creating a beautiful and useful work of art. I have been weaving in both the American and Scandinavian styles and enjoying it very much. These rugs are very hard wearing and long lasting.
All of my rugs are made with 95% recycled materials and consist of 100% cotton or a cotton/poly blend. Some table accessories are made with all new material of 100% wool fill. The warp material is 100% cotton. This means all of my creations are easily cared for as well as environmentally friendly.
Care
It is very important to note that while the rugs are made from sturdy fabrics and will last for a great many years,
they should be cared for properly in order to minimize shrinkage and prolong the life of the rug.

Recent Updates
The newest pattern that I have been trying is called the Hollywood. It features black and white warp that alternates in a zig-zag pattern through the main body of the rug and has striping on either side that forms arrows along the length of the sides. This is one of the original patterns that was distributed with my loom and I have the original copy! What fun to find these historical novelties!
Shows and Gallery Information
Currently my work is displayed in Escanaba, Michigan, at the East Ludington Gallery. If you see an item here that you would like to look at in person, it is most likely at the Gallery.
